\u201cAs you know, I have been editor or publisher at the National Catholic Reporter for 36 years. I am now 71 years old and will soon retire from my full time job at NCR.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>NCR and Catholic journalism have always been one of my loves. My other love is Vietnam. As you might know, my wife is a Catholic social worker from Can Tho, a former student at Caritas in Saigon and\u00a0Le\u00a0Couvent des Oiseaux in Dalat.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>While I am publisher of the NCR, I am also director of Global Sisters Report. This is a website that reports on Catholic Sisters and helps them build their writing and communication skills.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>The women religious all over the world do good work, but often have few education channels to build their skills. That is a reason I want to teach Catholic women religious, but not exclusively so.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>I feel I am in good position to teach English writing, communication, and Western Catholic spirituality and theology. I know these subjects very well. I also know personally the people who write in these fields, such as Richard Rohr and Joan Chittister and Elizabeth Johnson.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>In the next year or two I want to help build the church in Vietnam. I want to use my talents. I speak some Vietnamese and have lived in Vietnam for five years. My wife and I go back to Vietnam often. We understand the situation in Vietnam.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>Yes, I could teach courses or lecture in different parts of Vietnam, if the local churches felt I was valuable.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
